HISTORY OF OFFICIAL VISITS

OFFICIAL DELEGATIONS FROM DENVER
March 12 - 14, 1961 (1st)
The 1st delegation (3 guests) from Denver led by Ms. Elizabeth Rose visited Takayama, where various kinds of activities were held. A parade featuring the Takayama Festival floats made its way through the city.
April 5 & 6, 1962 (2nd)
Mr. Frisch led 6 guests from Denver.
May 11 - 14, 1966 (3rd)
A goodwill delegation of 49 members headed by Mayor Thomas Currigan visited Takayama. They enjoyed visiting Hida Folk Village and taking part in a parade, as well as many other events planned on their behalf.
October 10 - 12, 1980 (4th)
A delegation of 10 headed by Dr. Charles McCroy representing the Mayor of Denver came to Takayama. A ceremony to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the sister city affiliation was held.
November 12 - 19, 1981 (5th)
Seven people including Ms. Teddie Need, the Chairperson of the International Year of Disabled Person's Committee, as the leader visited Takayama. They enjoyed many activities such as visits to various facilities and discussions on the welfare of disabled persons.

March 4 - 6, 1985
Mr. Federico Pena, Mayor of Denver, visited Takayama for the first time. The Mayor gave a speech at the City Assembly meeting.
July 14 - 17, 1985 (6th)
A delegation of 20 members headed by Mr. Richard P. Koeppe, Superintendent of the Cherry Creek School District, visited Takayama. They attended the ceremony of the 25th Anniversary of the Sister City Affiliation.
October 31 - November 3, 1986 (7th)
A delegation of 29 members including Mr. Richard Caftro, Commissioner for Human Relations and Community Service, Dr. Wada Mayeda, Chairperson of DTSCC, attended the 50th Anniversary of Takayama.
October 13 - 17, 1990 (8th)
Dr. Wada Mayeda, Chairperson of DTSCC led the delegation of 22 members, and they attended the 30th Anniversary ceremony of the affiliation.

October 8 - 11, 1995 (9th)
A delegation of 25, led by Mrs. Kimiko Side, the new chairperson of DTSCC, jointly celebrate the 35th Anniversary ceremony of the affiliation with the citizens of Takayama.
June 1 - 3, 1996
Mayor Willing ton E. Webb, of Denver, and First Lady Mrs. Webb visited Takayama for the first time. Mayor and Mrs. Webb enjoyed meeting with the people of Takayama and visiting various places.
October 30 - November 4, 1996
Mr. Gerald Endsley, Music Director of DMB and his wife Pamela, Principal Flutist of Colorado Symphony Orchestra, joined the TWO's annual concert. This program was held as one of the events to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Takayama's incorporation as a city. Mr. and Mrs. Oberfield, Director of Mayor's Office of Art, Culture and Film also visited Takayama.

November 6 - 9, 1997
Mr. and Mrs. Side, the chairperson of Denver Takayama Sister City Committee, Mr. James Mejia, Executive Director of Agency for Human Rights and Community Relations of Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Hung, and Mr. Nakasone of MEM visited Takayama and attended the Annual Concert of the Takayama Wind Orchestra.
November 13-15, 1999
Mrs. Kimiko Side, the chairperson of Denver Takayama Sister City Committee, Ms. Allegra Happy Haynes, the president of the Denver City Council, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baumgartner, manager of Aviation of Denver International Airport, Mr. Tom Migaki, Manager of General Service of Denver, and Mr. Eric Hiraga, International Trade Specialist of the Mayor's Office of Economic Developmment and international Trade visited Takayama. They were warmly welcomed by the people of Takayama.

Mrs. Kimiko Side, the chairperson of Denver Takayama Sister City Committee, led the delegation to celebrate the 40th anniversary of friendship.
Among the members, are Mrs. Rosy Griffiths, the president of DSCI, Mrs. Teddie Throm, the former president of DSCI, Mr. Tom Migaki, Manager of the Department of General Services of the City and County of Denver, and Mr. Eric Hiraga, International Trade Specialist of Denver's Mayor's Office.
22 members participated various commemorative events during their stay in Takayama.
October 9 - 10 ,2001
From Denver, Mr. Tom Migaki, Manager of General Service Dept, Mr. Jim Martinez, Deputy Director of Mayor's Office of Economic Devlopment and Inte'l Trade, and Mr. Eric Hiraga, Inte'l Trade Specialist of EDIT visited Takayama. They also enjoyed the Takayama Autumn Festival.

November 14 - 15, 2002
Mr. Jim Martinez, Deputy Director of Mayor's Office of Economic Devlopment and Inte'l Trade, and Mr. Eric Hiraga, Inte'l Trade Specialist of EDIT visited Takayama. The purpose of ther visit was to talk about details of Mayor Webb's visit to Takayama in March., 2003.
March 13 - 15, 2003
A delegation of 9 members headed by Mayor Wellington E. Webb visited Takayama. The city of Denver park presentation ceremony was held at the friendship square by the attendance of Denver delegation members, Mayor Tsuchino and Mr. Shimohata, a president of TDFA.

April 13 - 16, 2005
A delegation of 13 members led by Mrs. Kimiko Side, co-chairperson of DTSCC, visited Takayama to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the sister city affiliation. Mrs. Side visited Kita Elementary School to present pictures and letters from the students of Denisson Elementary School in Denver. The delegation also enjoyed Takayama Spring Festival and Shin-hokata Rope Way, etc.
