HISTORY OF OFFICIAL VISITS

OFFICIAL DELEGATIONS FROM TAKAYAMA

August 10 - 19, 1964 (1st)
The first delegation was sent from Takayama to Denver with 21 members, led by Mayor Shinichiro Iwamoto. "Denver Takayama Festival" was held in Denver for 4 days, and a one-third scale replica of the festival float was presented to Denver.
July 2 - 6, 1976 (2nd)
A delegation of 41 members headed by Vice Mayor Ryoichi Yamada visited Denver. The members took part in a commemorative parade of the Bicentennial Anniversary of Independence of the United States and the Centennial Anniversary of Colorado.
July 6 - 14, 1978 (3rd)
Mayor Kichiro Hirata led the 3rd delegation to Denver. One stone lantern and one hanging lantern were presented to the Japanese Garden.

September 2 - 16, 1981 (4th)
A delegation of 10 led by Mr. Yukio Hirata, President of TDFA, was sent to Denver in commemoration of the International year of Disabled Persons.
July 17 - 22, 1984 (5th)
The 5th delegation headed by Mr. Toyozo Taniwaki, Superintendent of Takayama, attended the Sister Cities International Conference held in Denver.
July 5 12, 1990 (6th)
A delegation of 31 members headed by Dr. Akira Hisakane, President of TDFA, was sent to Denver in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the affiliation.

July 25 - August 1, 1995 (7th)
Dr. Akira Hisakane led the 7th delegation with 22 members including Mr. Mamoru Tsuchino, Mayor of Takayama, and Mr. Seiichi Shimoyama, President of the City Assembly, to Denver. One-seventh scale replica of festival float was presented to the newly opened Denver International Airport.

June 28 - July 6, 2000 (8th)
69 members including Mr. Mamoru Tsuchino, Mayor of Takayama, and Mr. Seiichi Shimoyama, President of the City Assembly, to Denver. One-seventh scale replica of festival float was presented to the newly opened Denver International Airport.


July 28 - Augst 3, 2005 (9th)
A delegation of 21 members headed by Mayor Tsuchino visited Denver to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the sister city affiliation. The meeting by the attendance of Mayor Hickenlooper, Mayor Tsuchino and other representatives from the two cities was held in the Summit Room of Denver Public Library and then the welcome receiption by Mayor Hickenlooper was held for the Takayama delegation. They also attended the various commemorative events like Tree Planting Ceremony in Takayama Park.

November 14 - 19, 2006
On the occasion of Takayama City's 70th anniversary, Vice Mayor Kajii visited Denver to present the Takayama Autonomy Commendation Certificate and Medal to Mrs. Side and Mrs. Throm, co-chairs of DTSCC.
