HISTORY OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMS FROM DENVER

The exchange program of high school students started in 1983 was mainly carried by the Takayama-Denver Friendship Association and the Denver Takayama Sister City Committee. The purpose being to promote friendly relationships through young people's exchanges and give the students a better understanding of each other. Home stay is provided during their stay.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DELEGATIONS FROM DENVER

July 17 - August 8, 1983 (1st)
14 students visited Takayama from Denver for the first time led by Mr. and Mrs. Matarrese and Ms. Kiyoko Tamaki.



June 22 - 27, 1985 (2nd)
Mr. and Mrs. Matarrese escorted 14 students from Denver.



June 27 - July 7, 1987 (3rd)
14 students enjoyed their stay in Takayama, led by Ms. Betty Smith.



July 26 - August 15, 1989 (4th)
Mr. Michael Christopher led the group of 10 students.



July 27 - August 4, 1993 (5th)
Mrs. Teddie Throm escorted 4 students, and they enjoyed various activities organized by Takayama association.



July 7 - 18, 1995 (6th)
9 students were escorted by Ms. Ricky Safer and Ms. Gail Jackson, and they made good friends with the people of Takayama.


July 17 - 27, 1997 (7th)
Mr. and Mrs. Comstock led 6 students from Denver.



July 17 - 27, 1999 (8th)
Ms. Gail Jacson and Ms. Mary Wheeler escorted 10 students to Takayama. They enjoying various activities planned by TDFA.



July 25 - 31, 2002 (9th)
Mr. Steve Comstock and Ms. Ayako Hasebe led 14 students to Takayama. Mrs. Marsha, President of DSCI and Mrs. Kitty Comstock, Chairperson of DTSCC also visited this time.



July 27 - Aug 2, 2004 (10th)
10 students visited Takayama led by Mrs. Kimiko Side, co-chairperson of DTSCC, Ms. Jahnavi Swamy and Mr. Scott Brenner. They visited the Mayor Tsuchino, Hida High School, Takayama Rotary Club, and many tourist attractions in Takayama.



July 25 - 31, 2006 (11th)
Ms. Gail Jacson and Ms. Bethany Hamilton, principal of the Denison School, led 10 students to Takayama. They visited Hida High School and Kita Elementary School, and enjoyed various activities with the students.
